How to Deal With a Lazy Coworker
How to Deal With a Lazy Coworker document.createElement('audio'); https://s3.amazonaws.com/tjn-blog-images/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/17133337/How-to-handle-a-lazy-coworker.wavWeââ¬â¢ve all been there- paired with the team member that just isnââ¬â¢t holding up their share of the tent poles. You canââ¬â¢t quite tattle on them because that would just reflect badly on you, but you also canââ¬â¢t let them get away with it all the time and just keep carrying your weight. If youââ¬â¢re frustrated with a lazy, extra-long-lunch-taking, slack-off of a coworker, here are a few ways you can alleviate the situation.Donââ¬â¢t let them knock you off your pins.If youââ¬â¢re spending the entire day focusing on just how lazy and useless your coworker is, chances are youââ¬â¢re not doing your own work as well as you could and should be doing. Try tuning them out, no matter how many times you notice them checking Facebook. Focus on your own work- or youââ¬â¢ll end up having as low an output as the lazy perso n. It might not be fair, but neither is life. Too much attention on fairness is just immature.Stay focused on yourself.Instead of obsessing about what a lame-o your coworker is, direct your energy instead to deciding what kind of a person and coworker you want to be. And start living up to your own ideals. Be the kind of person you admire most- not just someone who carps on the weakest link. Donââ¬â¢t let your good attitude get affected by someone elseââ¬â¢s bad work.Donââ¬â¢t assume responsibility.Donââ¬â¢t tattle, but also donââ¬â¢t just pick up their slack. Their work should not be your work. And if your boss recognizes that some work isnââ¬â¢t getting done, do your best to not be assigned any of the blame.Be a leader.Take this opportunity to distinguish yourself. Stay above the gossip. Step up and show your boss and your team how well you deal with difficult situations. Be the hero of your team. Communicate with your lazy co-worker- they may not be lazy at all, but rather dealing with issues or problems you havenââ¬â¢t imagined. Try helping them get back in the game, rather than watching them crash and burn.Say no.Donââ¬â¢t agree to projects that require your coworker to work at full capacity. And donââ¬â¢t agree to time frames that you know to be unrealistic given the situation. Worst case scenario, in saying no, youââ¬â¢ll earn an opportunity to broach the subject of your coworker with your boss in a non-tattletaley way. Itââ¬â¢s the classier way to escalate the situation.Put your reputation first. As annoying as it is to find yourself in this situation, what you have to remember is that you cannot go down with the sinking ship. You might have to put in a few more hours and do a bit more work on the edges until the situation can be resolved. If you have a high-stakes project that canââ¬â¢t be avoided and the deadlines canââ¬â¢t be changed, you just have to do the extra work and sort the situation out afterwards. Try and hold your head up high and distinguish yourself as much as possible, which will make the inevitable fall-out that much easier.

Sports Psychology Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Sports Psychology - Research Paper Example ychology to these basics will dramatically improve the three key ingredients to a successful athletic program : fun, participation and development .â⬠(Sports Psychology Basics PP2) He calls sports psychology ââ¬Å"the glue that holds the three ingredients (mentioned above) together.â⬠The first step in the psychological preparation for a sports person is to decide his commitment to the particular category of sports. Some people will engage in sports just for fun. Hence beyond the fun element the degree of commitment has to be decided first. Oneââ¬â¢s own skill in that particular sport or in the position in which one wants to play in a team is to be assessed next. Only after doing these can one set a goal to achieve. This goal is to be set up in the general backdrop of the goal of oneââ¬â¢s life thus to prioritize the goals. Though goal setting is the most important first step many sports persons are found to be lousy in their attitudes towards goal setting. Mark Anderson in his book ââ¬Å"Doing Sport Psychologyâ⬠brings out this attitude thus: ââ¬Å"I anticipate getting virtually all players to complete this first stage of goal setting quickly and efficiently. But players offer various explanations for not completing the goal sheets. The poor response rate is frustratingâ⬠¦..I view non compliance as a form of resistance.â⬠(PP 94) The goal should be set in a measurable manner with dates, times and amounts all fixed precisely. Only a measurement of the achievement can give psychological satisfaction. The performance should be the criteria of the measurement and not the outcome of the performance, thatââ¬â¢s winning or failing, which could be due to lots of external factors like bad judgment or bad weather conditions. One must be able to ignore all the rewards and fame that would come along with winning and concentrate on oneââ¬â¢s performance and its measurements. For this one has to set specific goals and not unrealistically high or conveniently low ones. Correct goal

Sickle Cell Anemia Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1
Sickle Cell Anemia - Essay Example 1995, the life expectancy for African Americans is 42 years for males and 48 years for females. Median survival is approaching 50 years. In the population at large, for African American males without Sickle Cell anemia according to the 2001 census figures is 68.6 for males and for females it is 75.5 years." (NVSR) Sickle Cell Amenia's major danger is the propensity to crisis. With fever, dehydration, insufficient oxygen, or a disturbance of the body's acid balance, the number of sickle cells greatly increases. They become log-jammed in small blood vessels, completely blocking flow and preventing oxygen from entering. Then more red blood cells stiffen. Tissues suffer from lack of blood flow, excruciating pain develops, and areas of tissue may die. A Sickle Cell crisis is difficult to treat. The patient needs adequate water to prevent dehydration, and often transfusions of normal red blood cells are required", (LIFE) I have developed mice models of Sickle Cell Anemia and they are being used to evaluate the effectiveness of a cure for Sickle Cell Anemia. 3 My research thesis is that certain people are generally disposed to the thiocynate deficiency (a deficiency of vitamin B12-a necessary component to healthy blood cells.) This deficiency causes blood cells to sickle, and it the root cause of Sickle Cell Anemia and its resulting complications. Our Sickle Cell Anemia mice models show that once this thiocynate is present in significant quantity in the blood system, there is an... Who is the Greater Villain, Godfrey or Dunstan? :: Free Essay Writer
Who is the Greater Villain ââ¬â Godfrey or Dunstan? My understanding of a villain is a wicked person or some one who tricks someone. In the dictionary a ââ¬Å"villainâ⬠is defined as a person who is guilty or capable of great wickedness or a criminal. My impressions of Godfrey are that he is weak, however he also has qualities of a villain as well. Godfreyââ¬â¢s younger brother Dunstan is not like Godfrey and he us more like a villain than weak. My initial impressions of Godfrey were that he was a good person. This is shown in chapter 3, ââ¬Å"Mr Godfrey, the eldest, a fine open ââ¬â faced, good natured young manâ⬠. The first time he seemed weak was when he kept his marriage to Molly Farren a secret. This implies that he was weak - willed and usually unable to think of much beyond his immediate material comfort. He also allows Dunstan to blackmail him about his marriage. ââ¬Å"ââ¬Å"Well, Master Godfrey, what do you want with me?â⬠said Dunsy in a mocking tone ââ¬Å"Suppose, now, you get the money yourself, and save me the trouble, eh? â⬠¦Youââ¬â¢ll not refuse me the kindness to pay it back for me: it was the brotherly love made you do it, you know?â⬠â⬠This implies Dunsy is taking advantage over his brother and he also sounds like he is being sarcastic when he talks about brotherly love. Godfreyââ¬â¢s actions also back this idea up as he, ââ¬Å"bit his lips and clenched his fistâ⬠. I Feel Dunsy is very villainous when he talks about being such ââ¬Å"a good natured brotherâ⬠. He also blackmails Godfrey when he says ââ¬Å"Youââ¬â¢ll take any trouble for me. Youââ¬â¢ll get the hundred pounds for me ââ¬â I know you will!â⬠this seems like he is threatening Godfrey and instead of asking for the money he is demanding it like he is the master of Godfrey. I feel sorry for Godfrey when he starts quivering and explains that he ââ¬Å"hasnââ¬â¢t got a shilling to bless his self withâ⬠this implies he is weak. Although Godfrey shows he is not as weak as it comes across because he threatens Dunsy, when Dunsy talks about her. Godfrey also didnââ¬â¢t want to go to mornings meet as it was near Batherley (which was the place where him and Molly Farren got married). Godfrey and Molly Farrens secret marriage is a good example of guilt and moral cowardice. Godfrey keeps the marriage a secret, as he knows that if his father (Squire Cass) finds out about it, he would disown him. The person Godfrey really loves is Nancy Lammeter and

Research Prince Charles
Prince Charles Research Essay Frank Jimenez English IV Ms. Amy Morales November 6, 2004 Throughout the years there have been many great kings and queens of Great Britain. None should ever be overlooked, but one that stands out is Prince Charles Phillip Arthur George. Still currently the Prince of Great Britain; heââ¬â¢s been an amazing leader. The highlights of his life include his marriage to the late Princess Diana, his early life with the military, and of course his present life now. The Princeââ¬â¢s marriage to Diana wasnââ¬â¢t one of the best kept secrets in the world.Everyone in the world had their eyes glued on their TV for the extraordinarily special occasion (Barry, 1983). Charles and Diana had known each other since they were young, and were later introduced in the late 1970ââ¬â¢s (Charles, 2011). One thing that people donââ¬â¢t really know about the two was that they were thirteen years apart in age. The two got engaged in February 1981, and the ceremony was on July 29, 1981. It was televised all over the world for millions to see this spectacular occasion (Charles, 2011).Their fairytale marriage together seemed almost perfect, but suddenly tragedy struck. They had felt strained over their years together with royal responsibilities, pressure from the media, and even some infidelities. Prince Charles had been accused of re-igniting an old flame with his ex-lover Camilla Park Bowles. Charles had admitted to the accusations and he officially separated with Diana in 1992, and divorced her in 1996 (Barry, 1983). Misfortune struck the Prince again when Princess Diana died in a car crash several years later in Paris (Charles, 2011).Prince Charles set aside both of their differences and traveled with Dianaââ¬â¢s sisters to France to accompany her body back to England. Charles took the role of his grieving sons; Prince William and Prince Henry. He took this time of mourning seriously and asked the media to leave his children alone and let th em live as normal a life as possible. After years of quietly keeping their relationship a secret, Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles on April 9, 2005 (Charles, 2011). She became the Duchess of Cornwall. In addition to his rollercoaster of a love life, his early life was a bit different than most considering he was in line to take the throne. He was born on November 14, 1948, in London, England (House, 2009). His parents Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip made him ascend the royal hierarchy at a very early age. It wasnââ¬â¢t much of a surprise to the country. His mother became queen when he was only three after the death of his grandfather, King George VI (Charles, 2011). Since he was the oldest child, Charles became the heir apparent to the British throne and received the title Duke of Cornwall. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh decided that the Prince should go to school rather than have a tutor at the Palace (Martin, 1985). They did this in part by because they wanted him to have as normal a life as possible and they wanted him to be able to have a lot of interaction with other people. In 1956 he attended the Hill House School in West London before heading off to boarding school at the Cheam School the following year. One interesting fact about Prince Charles was that he was actually made Prince of Wales at the age of only nine (Charles, 2011).Charles also attended Gordonstoun in Scotland, and studied in Australia too during his time there. The Prince also went to Cambridge University in 1967 to study archaeology and anthropology (House, 2009). He attended the Trinity College part, a subdivision of Cambridge University. In addition to his studies, he was active in campus life. He involved himself in several activities, such as playing on the polo team. After receiving his degree in 1970, Charles began a military career. He spent six months of training The Royal Air Force (Barry, 1983).Prince Charles joined the Royal Navy in 1971. He did several thin gs while in the Navy. He served as a helicopter pilot and even commanded a ship before leaving the military in 1976. That same year, Charles established The Princeââ¬â¢s Trust, a charitable organization dedicated to helping improve the lives of Britainââ¬â¢s disadvantaged youth (House, 2009). The Prince had a very diverse education along with a variety of activities. It shaped him to become a great leader. Furthermore, Prince Charles has left a great number of legacies.Prince Charles has become the longest-serving heir apparent in British history. The previous record, of 59 years, two months and 13 days, was set by his great-great-grandfather, King Edward VII. Over the years The Prince of Wales has founded a number of initiatives in order to try and help communities locally and globally. The Prince has long been sensitive to the plight of sheep farmers in this country and abroad and through two particular initiatives, the Campaign for Wool and The Mutton Renaissance, has sough t to improve the prices of two of their main products. Both the Campaign for Wool and the Mutton Renaissance initiatives aimed to make popular again these two products:à wool as a natural fire-retardant and sustainable fabric; and mutton as a tasty alternative to lamb, in order to help sheep farmers gain a better profit and thus protect their way of life (House, 2009). The Princeââ¬â¢s Rainforests Project was set up in October 2007 by The Prince of Wales to find practical solutions to slow tropical deforestation and combat climate change.START is an initiative inspired by The Prince of Wales, which aims to provide people with simpler steps towards sustainable living (House, 2009). In 2010, The Prince conducted a tour to a number of projects across the country, where he saw first-hand a number of inspiring ways that people are making a start. The Prince visited projects in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol, Carmarthen, Manchester, Todmorden, Newcastle, Nottingham, Birmingham and culmi nating in London with A Garden Party to make a difference in the grounds of Clarence House, Lancaster House and Marlborough House (Martin, 1985).The Prince of Wales has homes in England, Scotland and Wales. Clarence House is the official London residence of The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry. The private pursuits and interests of The Prince of Wales are as varied as the concerns ââ¬â like the welfare of young people and the disadvantaged, the quality of our built environment and sustainability ââ¬â to which he devotes his public life. The Prince is a keen watercolorist and paints whenever his schedule allows.Lithographs of his paintings are sold and all proceeds go to The Prince of Wales's Charitable Foundation. His Royal Highness enjoys gardening, especially in his organic garden at Highgrove (Martin, 1985). A keen advocate of traditional rural skills, The Prince enjoys hedge laying and has hosted the National Hedgelaying Championships at Home Far m. He has also laid many of the hedges on Home Farm himself. In pursuing some of his interests, The Prince is able to give support to organizations in the worlds of art, music and theatre ââ¬â as he oes in many other fields ââ¬â through becoming Patron or President (House, 2009). In total, The Prince of Wales is Patron or President of around 400 organizations. For example, His Royal Highness is Patron or President of the English Chamber Orchestra and Music Society, the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, The Welsh National Opera, Live Music Now! , The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Royal Ballet, to name but a few.The Prince and The Duchess regularly attend theatre and opera performances and symphony concerts, sometimes as part of a fundraising event and sometimes in a private capacity (Barry, 1983). Over the years His Royal Highness has taken part in many different sports including racing, scuba diving and sailing. Up until November 2005 The Prince raised money f or charity by playing polo. He decided to retire from the game after playing it for over 40 years. In conclusion, there is much to be said about the great Prince Charles. The almost perfect marriage to the late Princess Diana, his early life with the military, and his present life now can all be great examples of the way one person can have an impact on the world. Next time youââ¬â¢re making decisions, think of how Prince Charles wouldââ¬â¢ve handled it; with grace and dominance. Once you take a step back and look at all of the great Princes and Princesses of Great Britain; Prince Charles will always be on the top of the list as one of the most impacting human beings of his generation.
